Frequently Asked Questions

Remote Deposit Capture (RDC) allows you to deposit checks anytime, anywhere through our Mobile Banking App.  Below are answers to frequently asked questions regarding Remote Deposit Capture that will help you receive the best experience with this product.

Can I deposit any check through Remote Deposit Capture?
While most checks may qualify for deposit, there are certain checks that can't be deposited through RDC due to their nature and federal laws and regulations.  For a full list of prohibited checks, see Section 4 of our Terms and Conditions.

How should I sign (endorse) the back of my check for Remote Deposit Capture?
For your check to process, the back of the check must include your signature and in print (no cursive, please) "FOR MOBILE DEPOSIT ONLY AT CCU." Don't forget that a check payable to two people on your account must be signed by both people if the check is payable to you and your joint owner.

When will my mobile deposit be processed?
Mobile deposits received before 3 pm EST on a business day will be credited to your account the same day.  Mobile deposits after 3 pm EST on a business day will be credited to your account on the following business day.

Will I have access to the funds immediately?
Once your submitted deposit has been approved for processing, you will receive provisional credit for the deposit.  This deposit could be subject to a hold based on the type of check and the credit union funds availability policy.  You can check your available balance after the approval to determine if a hold was placed.  For more details, please see Section 8 of our Terms and Conditions.

My check has been successfully deposited.  What should I do with the check now?
From time to time, the credit union may request to see the original check within 15 days of the deposit.  During this 15-day retention period, please keep the check in a safe place, with the date of deposit written on the front of the check.  After this 15-day retention period, it is your responsibility to mark such check as "VOID" and destroy it.

My check would not process through Remote Deposit Capture.  What should I do?
To ensure the photo of your check is accepted, follow these tips:
  • Make sure your Champion CU Mobile Banking app is updated to the newest version
  • Take the photo in a well-lit area with no shadows on the check
  • Place the check against a solid dark backdrop
  • Capture all four corners of the check surrounded by the dark backdrop
  • Ensure the endorsement is legible and in blue or black ink
  • Print your endorsement. Ensure it is large and easily read. Cursive writing will not be accepted.
If you have followed the tips listed above and your check fails to process through RDC, you may bring the check to the nearest credit union location for processing.  See Section 11 of our Terms and Conditions for limitations regarding this.

After you submit your check deposit through Remote Deposit Capture, you will receive an email notifying you that the deposit is pending.  Once processed, you will receive an email notifying you of the status of the deposit.
